Engadget: Gametrak Freedom Xbox 360 motion controller up for pre-order with Squeeballs

Engadget writes:

We get the feeling this isn’t the motion sensing surprise that’s likely in store for Xbox 360 fans at E3, but it’s still great to see this controller moving beyond the hype stage. After being spied late last year and detailed around two months ago, the Gametrak Freedom motion controller is now listed at GameStop with an October 15th ship date. The controller, which will come bundled with Squeeballs: Island Party for the Xbox 360, is already up for pre-order, promising gamers who shell out $69.99 a grand total of 11 motion sensing party games. Unfortunately, there’s no word on how much extra Freedom sticks will run, but based on the price of this kit, we’d wager not much.

Are Games a Waste of Time?

Gamer Limit writes "Like some perverse, sedentary flight school, we’re requiring a number of hours behind the joystick before a gamer earns their wings - this begs the question: With all these hours invested, what do we have to show for them? Or perhaps more importantly, what do we sacrifice in favor of games?"

Splinter Cell banner seemingly reaffirms Xbox 360 exclusivity

The recent re-emergence of Sam Fisher from the shadows of … uh, awkward stealth game metaphors has prompted several questions: Where has the gravelly voiced assassin been for the last few years? Is Ubisoft still toying with social stealth? And is the game still exclusive to the Xbox 360?

A partial answer to the last question may be evident in the large Splinter Cell: Conviction banner draped across the Los Angeles Convention Center. It’s notable not only for the distinct lack of self-pitying scruff, but for being the only banner to prominently display only the Xbox 360 and Xbox Live logos. Of course, as Joystiq has learned in the time since the game was first announced, "exclusive" doesn’t always mean what they think it means.
