2009 Lens of Truth Awards

Lens of Truth writes, "As 2009 comes to a close, the Lens of Truth stops and takes a look back at the games that got us through the year. Those of you who’ve been there from the beginning can vouch for our growth. Some things we did well, sometimes our voice cracked from "website puberty", but rest assured, we came out with more hair on our chest."

Big Download: 2010 PC Game Predictions

Big Download writes:

"As we run out of hours before the end of 2009, our minds are already thinking about what might happen in the next 12 months. Last year at this time we gave our predictions on what the PC game industry might do in 2009. Some of our predictions were proven to be correct and others, well, not so much.

So now it’s time to do it all over again and look into our rather hazy crystal ball and give some predictions on what events mght happen in 2010. Will we bat 1000 this time or will our predictions miss by a mile. In 12 months we should know."

Five surprisingly disappointing games of 2009

From Gamertell:

"These five games are some that everyone seemed to adore but I didn’t care for at all. This by no means suggests that these are bad games but they wouldn’t get my recommendation if asked.

Despite getting critical acclaim from many, these five games gave me nothing but stress and I have to get this off my chest before 2010 gets underway."

Games include Red Faction Guerrilla, Dragon Age: Origins, Left 4 Dead 2, Mega Man 9 and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time Re-Shelled.

Xbox 360: The Year in Review

IGN: Another year has passed and it’s time for reflection. This past set of 12 months has been an interesting dozen indeed. A global recession was the backdrop to everything and videogames were no exception. As always, the industry charged on and provided us with some wonderful pieces of entertainment. Here you’ll find IGN’s look back at the year that was. We’ll outline the top rated games, the biggest events, and even train our expert eyes on 2010 to give you a glimpse of what’s just over the horizon.

The Xbox 360 is in a state of transition. Early on in its life, Microsoft felt compelled to prove its worth to the core gamer. The company succeeded and millions and millions of gamers came together on Xbox Live to shoot each other in the virtual face more times than its healthy to think about. Gears of War, Halo and Call of Duty led the charge while those of us that like to game by ourselves a bit also snatched up the best role-playing games of this generation.

That was then.

The Decade of Zelda

Zelda has been around since the mid 80’s, yet no previous decade has come close to giving us what this decade has. There have been 9 Zelda game releases in the last 10 years. To put that in perspective, there are only 5 Zelda titles that were not released in this decade. So for all our complaining, for all our slow "no news" times, and for all this whining about why we don’t have Zelda Wii yet, it’s good to remember that Nintendo has been giving us Zelda love all decade, so be patient young grasshopper and you will greatly rewarded. Still, lets’ take a walk down memory lane as we go through all the Zelda releases this decade.
